In 2 m(inutes) distance the artists chose real space as a communicative interface for artistic collaboration. In times of digital festivals and exhibitions, their desire is not to exclusively transfer artistic statements into the virtual. Staged in the old cinema of Sandleitenhof, a systematic sequence of interventions, performances and media production results in a collective installation. The work is a plea for the preservation of artistic diversity. In this sense, 2 m(inutes) distance is an experiment on how to deal with decreed restrictions.

Durch personalisierte Algorithmen werden uns auf Websites nur Informationen angezeigt, die mit den bisherigen Ansichten des Benutzers übereinstimmen. So wird der Benutzer sehr effektiv in einer „Filter Bubble“ isoliert. Ein potenzieller Nachteil dieser ist, dass sie uns von neuen Ideen, Themen und wichtigen Informationen ausschließt. Das Video „burst the bubble“ zerstört auf abstrakte Weise diese Filter Bubble. Es soll ein Anstoß gegeben werden über den Tellerrand zu blicken.

Seine Meme (= Einheiten kultureller Vererbung nach Richard Dawkins) umkreisen die Frage um unser Verhältnis zu Technologien und wie dieses unsere Wirklichkeiten beeinflusst.

Being omnipresent in cyberspace these days meant a loss of physical rooms and communication.
Meeting virtually until a technical problem is suddenly ending the conversation. In my time at home, I was writing a lot of small texts, that I transform into songs in a later stage. In the video I am reading one of these texts, being lo(ck)gged into the same Zoom meeting twice, which caused feedback from the two overlapping sound waves.

Sozial distanziert vereinsamen wir, verlernen uns gesellschaftsfähig und gastfreundlich zu verhalten. Unser Selbst spiegelt sich in Video Calls, wir werden geblendet, erblinden und verirren uns in Selbstgesprächen. So Good To See Me ist eine Audio-Installation mit einem spärlichen Gedeck im Zentrum. Aus dem Hintergrund bietet eine Stimme Getränke an und spricht mit sich selbst. Die Ich-Erzählerin ist fern und nach zugleich und absorbiert die Betrachter*innen in ihre intim-fremden Selbstbezogenheit.

Life vs. System
Life vs. System doesn‘t think COVID-19 as a life threat – as the despotic state suggests. Over a period of two minutes, it runs thoughts over the surface of life and recognizes paths of life, which can shut down the system in one fell swoop. A life, understood as an always defying chaos against a system that sees itself as a safe construction against the fear of this chaos.

Eine AR Installation, die um Kommunikationskonzepte in Zeiten der COVID-19 Pandemie in Österreich kreist. Die zentrale Arbeit ist ein mobiles Zuhause mit einem mobilen Arbeitsplatz, auf welchem eine AI generierte Version von John Stuart Mills on liberty abgespielt wird. Diese digitale Interpretation wurde völlig missverstanden, und resultiert daher in reinem Geschwafel.

We are disconnected. Missing real touch. It seems controversial to wear a mask in times of global conversation and the need for freedom of speech. We feel manipulated by the media, obliged to keep distance and overwhelmed with the virtual waiting room, unlearning real conversation.

Two Minutes Cleansing
Two Minutes Cleansing after the last person enters the room where the exhibition “2 m(inutes) distance” takes place, a traditional Mexican cleansing ritual begins. With the necessary personal protective measures against the pandemic infection, the individual moves freely across the room using different elements in order to remove any negative energy that may be there. Surrounding the objects with a copal resin incense, ringing bells in the corners, sweeping the main door with a bunch of herbs and tapping the objects with an egg, which will be cracked afterwards into water in order to interpret ist yolk and albumen, are all part of mystical practices which are in this day and age commonplace in Mexico. Directly deep-rooted inheritance from the Aztec and Mayan ancestors and considered folk healing medicine, this tradition has existed for centuries longer than Western medicine.

Agamic Shock: Inaugural Visages
The title, Agamic Schock, is an anagram. So is the subtitle, Inagural Visages. Created by using the cut-up method. The sound is a playback. In Chaos Magick, both the cut-up method and playback technique are ways of casting a spell. It makes it possible to transform and subvert the order, the system. Chaos Magick works in a subversive way, on the subconscious level. Like a dream. Beyond language, beyond the conscious. During the Covid-19-pandemic, reports of vivid dreams of bugs, creeps and insects have been on the rise.
